Your new car keeps breaking.
The law might owe you a buyback.

Lemon laws can force the manufacturer to repurchase or replace your car, but the thresholds are state-specific and buried in statutes. Log your repair visits and watch your case build itself.

How it works

1

Pick your state

Every state sets its own bar: repair attempts, days in the shop, deadlines. We encode the real statute numbers.

2

Log every repair

Date in, date out, what broke, which dealer. Snap a photo of the repair order so nothing gets lost.

3

Watch yourself qualify

A live meter tracks each legal route. Cross a threshold and you get your next steps: attorney match and a demand letter draft.

Where was the car bought or leased?

Lemon law is state law. Pick yours and we load its exact thresholds.

State thresholds, from the actual statutes

These are the presumption triggers: hit one and the law presumes the manufacturer had a reasonable number of chances. Cases can still win outside them.

More states coming. The pattern is the same everywhere: repeated failed repairs of one defect, or enough total days in the shop.

Questions people ask

Is this legal advice?

No. Buyback is an organizational tool, not a law firm. Lemon law is fact-specific and state-specific. Before you act, talk to a licensed lemon law attorney in your state. Most offer free case reviews and work on contingency.

What counts as the "same problem"?

Use the same short label for the same symptom every visit, for example "transmission shudder." Different dealers count together as long as the complaint is the same. What matters is the recurring defect, not where you took it.

Do days in the shop have to be consecutive?

No. In all fifteen states the day counts are cumulative across visits. Keep every repair order: the date-in and date-out on each invoice is what proves your total.

What if my car is used?

Some states cover used cars still under the manufacturer's original warranty (California does, for example). Texas generally covers new vehicles only. The tool tracks the presumption windows; an attorney can tell you if your used car qualifies another way.

How is this free? How do you make money?

Buyback is free for consumers, and it stays free. If you choose to get matched with a lemon law attorney through the case-review form, participating attorneys may pay us a referral fee. That never changes what you pay: lemon law attorneys work on contingency, so there is no upfront cost to you either way.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. Everything you enter is stored in your browser's local storage on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, and no tracking.
